David and Holly Hansburg couldn’t find a summer camp for their kids that matched up to the camps of their own childhoods. With lifelong careers in education, they decided to start their own. Rocky Mountain Day Camp, last year’s runner up, returns this year with top honors as Best Kids’ Day Camp. “We develop confident, happy and well-rounded children,” Hansburg says. “We give boys and girls programs of their own so that they feel free to participate without a lot of the inhibitions. We also sort by age group to provide appropriate learning experiences.” OK, enough serious talk. Let’s hear about the FUN! In residence for the summer at the Eldorado K-8 elementary school in Superior, RMDC has a full range of facilities for art, soccer, rock wall climbs, archery, drama, rocketry, crafts, football, guest coaching from former collegiate and Olympic athletes, Jump Rope Club, golf, water activities, and more. Whatever it is, you know you’re in for fun! “Every day is completely different,” Hansburg says with a laugh.
