Karen McCormick, DVM, CVA, has been practice owner of Alpine Hospital since 2006. Her approach is humane and compassionate to her animal patients and their owners. “My underlying philosophy as a citizen and a doctor is to treat people as I want to be treated – in other words, the Golden Rule. This means to have compassion for other people’s fears, to communicate choices for their pets and what the choices mean, and never make judgments of what owners choose to do for their pets. Whatever they decide is up to them, if only they keep their pets pain-free.” She points out there are many advancements in veterinary care and equipment today, but that sometimes the care chosen has to be based on the means of the owner. Besides practicing Western medicine, Alpine offers alternative medical choices: acupuncture, laser therapy to relieve pain without medication, BICOM® treatment for allergies, and follow-up chemotherapy for pets referred from Colorado State University. “We love what we do, and we have respect and compassion for each other.
