“Jewelry is fun; it makes you feel good,” says Mikki Rainey, owner of Classic Facets in Boulder. Since opening in 1985, the store has developed an international reputation as a source for one-of-a-kind, authentic antique jewelry. “These pieces are a little bit of history,” Rainey explains. “Back when these were made, heirloom stones were passed down from generation to generation. Each piece of jewelry was designed for a specific stone. This makes every piece as unique as its stone.” At any one time, Classic Facets has thousands of pieces of vintage costume, premier estate and fine jewelry. What’s hot right now? White gold, filigree and diamond jewelry from the 1920s, Rainey says, and there’s an unusually good selection available right now due to the current economy, as more owners are deciding to consign their jewelry. “We’re a unique store for unique jewelry. We’re not your run-of-the-mall store,” she quips.
